Flat tire change in Franklin, WI

Your spare mounted for you when the lug nuts won’t budge, you don’t have the tools, or the shoulder isn’t a safe place to work.

Franklin Towing & Roadside is a referral service. Your call is connected to an independent local towing provider.

What’s included

The flat tire is removed and your spare is put on. If your car doesn’t have a spare, or the spare is flat too, the car will need a tow to a tire shop.

Know your spare

  • Full-size spare: the same as your other tires, so you can drive normally until the flat is repaired.
  • Compact spare (a “donut”): meant only to get you to a tire shop. Check the label on its sidewall for the speed limit, usually 50 mph.
  • Run-flat tires or a repair kit only: no spare at all. Follow your owner’s manual for how far you can drive, or arrange a tow.

Before help arrives

  • Pull as far off the road as you can, onto flat, firm ground if possible.
  • On a highway, don’t try to change a tire on the side facing traffic.
  • Look for the wheel lock key, a special lug nut adapter usually kept in the glovebox or with the jack. Without it, the wheel is much harder to remove.

Late winter and spring are pothole season in the Milwaukee area. A hard pothole hit can bend a wheel as well as flatten the tire. If the wheel is bent or two tires are damaged, the car needs a tow.

Common questions

Can the tire be repaired on the spot?

The service puts on your spare. Patching or replacing the damaged tire is done at a tire shop.

My tire pressure light is on but the tire isn’t flat.

It may be a slow leak or low pressure from cold weather. Add air at a gas station and have the tire checked. If it keeps losing air, don’t drive far on it.
