Winch-out service in Franklin, WI
Stuck in snow, mud or a ditch? Your car is pulled back onto solid ground, often without needing a tow.
Franklin Towing & Roadside is a referral service. Your call is connected to an independent local towing provider.
When you need a winch-out
- The car slid into a snowbank or a ditch.
- The wheels are stuck in mud, on a soft shoulder or on a lawn.
- A wheel dropped off the edge of a driveway or parking area.
Stop spinning the wheels
Spinning the tires digs the car in deeper and can overheat the transmission. Turn off the engine unless you need heat, and if you do run it, keep the tailpipe clear of snow.
How it works
A cable from the truck’s winch is attached to a safe recovery point on your car, then the car is pulled out slowly and under control. Sometimes the cable is run through a pulley to change the angle of the pull.
Once the car is out, it’s checked before you drive away. Leaking fluid, a bent wheel or steering that pulls to one side mean the car should be towed instead.
Common questions
How much does a winch-out cost?
It depends on how far the car is off the road, how deep it’s stuck and what equipment is needed. A car a few feet into a snowbank is a quick job. A car down a steep ditch is a bigger recovery. Ask for the total when you call.
Do I need a tow too?
Often not. If the car isn’t damaged, you can drive away once it’s out.
