Towing in Franklin, WI

Flatbed towing for cars, SUVs, pickups and vans that won’t start, won’t drive or have been in a crash.

Franklin Towing & Roadside is a referral service. Your call is connected to an independent local towing provider.

When a tow is the right call

  • The car won’t start, even after a jump.
  • Warning lights, overheating, grinding or smoke make it unsafe to keep driving.
  • Tire or wheel damage that the spare can’t fix.
  • After a crash, when the car can’t be driven legally or safely.
  • Moving a car that doesn’t run, such as a project car or one you’ve sold.

Flatbed or wheel-lift?

A flatbed carries the whole car on its deck, with all four wheels off the road. It’s the safe choice for all-wheel-drive vehicles, lowered cars and anything with crash damage. A wheel-lift truck raises one end of the car and works for short tows of many two-wheel-drive cars, especially in tight spaces. When you call, say if your car is AWD and ask which kind of truck is coming.

Where your car can go

Your home, your own mechanic, a dealer or a body shop. Have the full address ready. If the shop is closed, ask whether it has an after-hours key drop and leave a note with your name and phone number.

After an accident

If anyone is hurt or the cars are blocking traffic, call 911 first. If police are on scene, they may arrange the tow for you. Call your insurance company to open a claim before choosing a body shop, and take photos of the car before it’s loaded.

Common questions

How is the price worked out?

Most tows are a hook-up fee plus a per-mile rate. Winching the car out first, extra waiting time and late-night calls can add to it. Ask for the total before the truck is sent.

Can I ride in the tow truck?

Often one passenger can ride along, but it depends on the provider. Ask when you call, especially if you have kids or more than one passenger.

Do I have to be there when the car is picked up?

Usually someone needs to be there to hand over the keys and sign. Ask about unattended pickup if you can’t be there.
