Car lockout service in Franklin, WI
Keys locked in the car or trunk? The door can be opened without damaging the lock or the window.
Franklin Towing & Roadside is a referral service. Your call is connected to an independent local towing provider.
If a child or pet is locked inside
Call 911 first, especially in summer heat or winter cold. Don’t wait for a lockout service.
How a lockout works
The technician uses an inflatable wedge to open a small gap at the top of the door, then a long-reach tool to press the unlock button or lift the handle. Done carefully, it leaves no marks on the paint, the seals or the glass. If your keys are in the trunk, the car is opened first and then the trunk release is used.
Have your ID ready
Expect to be asked for a photo ID before the car is opened, and to show that the car is yours once it is, for example the registration or insurance card inside. This protects you, because it stops anyone else from getting into your car this way.
When it’s not a lockout
If your keys are lost or broken, opening the door won’t help, because the car still won’t start. You need an automotive locksmith or a dealer who can cut and program a new key. If the car has to go to the dealer, that’s a tow.
Common questions
Will it scratch my car?
The proper tools are made to avoid damage. Ask the technician to explain the method before starting if you’re worried.
My push-button car locked with the fob inside. How?
Most cars are designed to prevent this, but a weak fob battery can stop the car from detecting the fob. Replace the fob battery once you’re back in.
